The lands of Aetherian lay scorched and depleted. The Thousand Year War has reduced mountains to sand, ancient forests to smoldering ash and vibrant oceans to acidic moors. Ruined cities form in the wake of destruction, leaving nothing but vague footprints of one lost culture after another. The power of magic has been forgotten and replaced with an industrial age that feeds on the land as the remaining civilizations feed on each other.

The Kyn Dynasty, the empire of men, struggle to keep hold of everything they’ve taken. The elves have been removed, the orcs have been beaten into passivity and the dwarven clans and goblin packs have been battered to near extinction. Yet as resources run low it is clear that men are no victor. Forges grow cold and factories crumble as the mechanical beasts of war lay long forgotten as the world searches for food and fuel. The Kyn Dynasty begins to look in on itself for an enemy to blame.

As desperation spread across the empire, a team of archaeologists cracked the sealed doors of an ancient tomb and changed the fate of the world. Spilling forth from every crevice of the mysterious antechamber was a haze of scarlet mist. Aether, as it would come to be known, could be burned as fuel and refined to enrich soil and strengthen metal. It would once again stir the ambitions of war and begin to reawaken the lost magic of the ancients.

Even as the known armies of Aetherian prepare for the next tide of war, unforeseen threats enter the fray. Eternal lords of the Sun descend upon the planet, a primordial God stirs in his throne, and robotic eyes flash open with a newfound sentience.

Aetherian is a world of war where kingdoms rise and fall like shifting desert sands. There is no faith in kings and no safety behind walls. This is a world where you can’t trust or be trusted but can’t possibly hope to make it alone. This is the Age of Alliances.
